Sessions
I mostly see clients on a weekly basis but also also have a number of fortnightly and less regular sessions for those who prefer this way of working. I offer sessions during day-time periods, and in the early evening. I also offer some early morning sessions
Initial Session
I always undertake an initial, 'no-ties' session so we can meet each other, talk about your concerns or aspirations and explore how these may be helped by therapy or coaching, with me or elsewhere. This session gives you a chance to meet me and to see how I do things, as well as to ask any questions or seek advice without any obligation regarding further work.
The initial session is subject to the same fee as all other sessions.
Contract
After our initial session we may agree to 'contract' for a number of further sessions (often between 6-12 to start with). We will agree on the type of work we will do (coaching or therapy), the approach we will take and our goals in doing so. In therapy, this will involve deciding whether to work in manner that is very focused upon a particular difficulty or symptoms (CBT), use our sessions to talk about more general feelings, thoughts and behaviours (counselling/psychotherapy), or to combine the two in a way that seems helpful for you (this is very common). I will want to know what you think and find a way of working that fits your needs, and with which you feel happy. Occasionally, I may refer you elsewhere if I feel another service may better meet your needs or desires.
A coaching contract is similar to this but is generally more focused on outcomes, such as improving things at work or by enhancing life opportunities etc. I may also suggest some psychometric profiling be undertaken prior to us starting work, if I believe this to be helpful. I can arrange this for you.
Needless to say, all 'contracts' are to guide us in our work and are not definitive nor fixed, and are open to discussion and change at any time you wish. I will ask you regularly about your experiences of our work and invite on-going feedback and discussion. I am also happy to offer my thoughts where appropriate.
